ABOUT US · HISTORY
From a gathering of the faithful in 1971 to the church we worship in today.
WHO WE ARE
Our parish is an Eastern Catholic community of the Malankara Catholic Church. We celebrate the Holy Qurbana in the West Syriac Rite — the Divine Liturgy of St. James — and belong to the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum, within the Adoor Ecclesiastical District. Our patron is St. Thomas the Apostle, whose feast (Dukrana) we keep every year on July 3.
CHRONOLOGY
The first faithful assembly of the parish gathered and took shape as a community in Theppupara.
The parish was formally established and its first church building was blessed by the late Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios.
Rev. Fr. Thomas Kumbukatt served as the first Vicar of the parish.
Under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Saji Madamannil, the church underwent major structural renovation. It was solemnly blessed by the then Head of the Church, His Beatitude Moran Mor Cyril Baselios Catholicos.
The newly built, contemporary church that stands today was constructed and blessed by the present Major Archbishop-Catholicos, His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis.
